Default Sticky Throttle.

The throttle is sticky, only at iddle. The TB is not gummy, and the cable looks clean. I sprayed with Silicon Oil, but it didn't help.

Any ideas, aside from removing the trottle cable and cleaning throughly? Any thing else it might be?

TIA

Did you spray inside the throttle body with silicone? You know that murders an O2 sensor within seconds, right?

Mine sticks when the throttle body/choke gets dirty. Clean it out real well. I used carb/fi cleaner, a rag and some q-tips. Guess that's the downside of cheap cone style air filter... that and piston ring life. Anyhoo, clean it up in there and see if that fixes it.

ps. wasn't gummy... just real fine dirt/junk etc. more like very slight carbon build up or some such.

Good thought. I sprayed it down, but it didn't help much. Also it doesn't start sticking a lot until the car is warm. It makes me think something is expanding from the heat and binding.

I am having the same problem on my 88 Si and can't seem to track down the problem either. I took it in for service, and they "adjusted" the throttle cable for me. I have cleaned out the throttle body as well. I have also oiled the spring, but I just used a multi purpose household oil, nothing special. Is there a special oil I should have used?

Help. It sucks when you pull up to a light and your car is idling at 3000 rpm and the clown in the mustang next to you thinks you want to race his lame ***.

Its not quite that bad. It only sticks when I step on the pedal. The idle is not affected.
