Raise compression?

You'll see an approximate +0.3 by switching to a 2-layer gasket. Whether or not that's "worth it" is mainly up to you. I certainly wouldn't pay someone to do the installation, but if I was doing it myself I would consider it worthwhile.

You want to make sure the head and block mating surfaces are really flat so that it seals correctly because there is a lot less material and more of a chance of blowout. You also have to be more careful about torquing the head bolts down to ensure a proper seal. Also make sure you use new head bolts or ARP studs.
Personally, I wouldn't ever mess with a headgasket to raise or lower compression.

its a cheap upgrade if the heads gonna be off anyways i went to a 2 layer gasket when i had my head ported and polished you will fill a little difference not amazing but a gain none the less
