installing things.. help ?
ok i got a autometer shiftlight... and i was curious what do you guys feel is the best tach wire to use?
my friend was running his from behind his gauge with a 7.8 pill... the light would turn on at 8.1 oh the tach, even though the pill says 7.8 which would you trust? any one know of a better wire?
also, installing a autometer AF gauge... what is the best wire to tap for that thing too ? the ECU ?

There are a few tach wires in the vehicle. One behind the cluster, one at the ECU and one at the distributor. Any of these should read the same signal.

there's also the blue wire right behind the firewall on the drivers side for the tach.
also i heard its best to tap the a/f wire closest to the ecu.

i tapped my tach wire right at the distributor, and for my A>F gauges, i tapped direcly to the 02 sensor wire carefully, so that i get both signals right direct from the source. as to not let any other electronics or anything add the slightest bit of amperage for the truest reading. all electronics in cars give off or take a little more power once they are running a signal through the electronics in it. so best bet for a true reading would be directly connecting next to the source.
