I was driving a couple days ago and I noticed my E Brake light was still on even after i've been driving for couple minutes, well I stopped played with it yada yada yada and no answer... It stayed on and has stayed on since then... Well I was driving home tonight and my brakes started squealing realllllly loudly, and i got into my driveway and saw my brakepads were getting low... Well I called one of my friends and he said that when ur e brake light comes on an stays on it means either ur cable has some slack in it or ur rear brakes are going out.. I have 94 dx coupe.. Anyone kno if this is true or not..?? Or do I have like a dummy light goin on here..?? Thanks..

 

..Check your brake fluid. First.

 

When the brake light comes on your brake fluid is usually low. I would bleed the brakes if thats the case.

 

the light only comes on, if the e-brake is up or the brake fluid is low. light does not come on when your cable is loose or pads are low. only way to know your pads are wearing is by the annoying squeeling sound.

And if you fuild is full. Could be the sensor have gone bad.(the master cylinder cap)

 

put more brake fluid in the brake resivor! this kid i know kept putting it in the clutch resivor and was like my brakes ******* suck! funniest **** ever!

 

Your propably low on fluid because the pistons have to push out furhter then before do to the thinner worn out pads.

Replace the pads top off your fluid and bleed the system if it got low enough to where it may have sucked up some air.

Also if you dident mention the noise or the pads being worn I would have sagested adjusting the ebrake switch.

the little clamp that holds the brake line into the master cylinder was moved down some an i saw brake fluid alll over the hose right there under the brake fluid resevior, so i went to autozone and bought 2 new o-clamps the little ones, popped one on there, changed brakes, bled lines, refilled with brake fluid, started car, walaaaaaaah no brake light..!! lol... went to races afterwards, walaaaaahhh, kicked *** with perfect working brakes ;-)

Thanks for the reminder though, I guess when u get so caught up into **** u overlook the main issue "forgetting to check brake fluid" lol... I had no idea though what would make that light come on i figured it was something with rear brakes, but thanks anyways...

r u sure on that what year and trim level does that happen to?

NOT true... like say later in this post.. when you are running low on break fluid.. you DONT wanna put more in.. you wanna check the break pads !!!!!

dont you learn this in driving school ??????

and a visual check can alos tell you if the breaks need replacement !!!
