Headunit in ek civic getting hot
I always noticed this in all eg and ek civics, in the winter time. Seems that the heat from the vent above will heat the crap out of the headunit.
My new pioneer is even starting to skip when it gets really hot. When the cd comes out its to hot to handle for a while.
Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone tried wiring a fan, maybe from a computer to keep it cool?

I have an Alpine HU in my 94 teg LS, that used to get hot, I modified, [stripped down] a 12V hair drier, installed it behind glove box, ran some flex hose to behind and below the HU and have the 2 speed switch mounted below the glove box, [temporary as I want the replace it with "thermo" switch/s] have not had an overheating problem since.
One thing I would do if you haven't already, is for the HUs constant power, [yellow] run a fused 12ga or 10ga fused power wire from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the constant, [yellow] to it, and add a 12ga or 10ga ground wire from the chassis of the HU the the cars chassis, the oem radio harness constant power and ground are not sufficient for today's "high power" HUs.
