Don't lift it, drop it. Dropping out the bottom is way easier. It's the only way I do swaps any more. Disassemble suspension, remove front x-member, remove all wiring hoses, cables, shift linkage, ect. drop the car on the ground with a creeper, or specialized rolling cart under motor. Remove motor mounts and lift car back up, roll motor out.
CRXbart... that is a good idea but way past that point lol and none of those things needed to do such a thing... anyone else please
I dunno if if your asking how to lift a motor out ot where...but the motor mount brackets are a good place to chain up an engine lift...you can probably rent an engine lift at a hardware store if you do not have one.

What do you mean none of that is needed. The only extra thing is removed is the xmember. You don't need a lift you can do it all with a jack and some jack stands.

its funny when i don't say something retarded i have to bump to get a response but its when i do say something dumb its like seabiscuit all over the thread ... either way the coming up sounds better than going down lol hahhaa ... i was confused but the haze is gone . i will try that... and for the lifting i have a lift, a very nice one, i was curious of the lift points on the engine or wrap it and lift. but thanks (the motor mount don't seem like a wise choice because the engine will flip flop on ya , or at least it seems that way.
thanks again

i use 1 bolt hole on the timing belt side of the intake manifold (there is a blank hole w threads) and one directly opposite it on the head. also 2 transmission bolts.
works on b and d series

I use the 'blank' hole between the timing belt and intake manifold (I always take it off) and...a dizzy bolt. I'd recomend a tranny bolt instead, but use a longer bolt or a plate you can hook to.
I've done both ways up & down removal, and IMO they both have their strengths & weaknesses. In a perfect world I'd use a ceiling-mounted puller to lower the motor. It's easier to install/remove a motor from below if there's AC/PS/etc or a cramped bay like an EF. Installing from above also makes it hard to line up due to it angling in.
