Icon4 How to drop motor from bottom

What steps are involved in dropping the motor from the bottom. I have access to an engine hoist and frame contact hoist. Since i've heard its easier to remove the engine from the bottom i thought i'd ask how.

B-series motor

Mechanically it is exactly the same as pulling the engine out from the top, disconnect wiring, fuel lines, exhaust, axles etc. I built myself a low platform from 1x1 square tubing with a plywood deck and casters on the bottom. I put that under the engine/trans, then use a jack to set the engine/trans down on the platform and then pull the mounts. After that just jack the car up and roll the engine/trans out from under.

I have found this is the easiest way for me to do it without having a hoist take up space in my garage.

i usually just hook the motor on to my hoist. lower it down to the ground on to a rubber maid container lid. jack the car up and pull it out.

putting the motor in the same way. but in reverse order.

Just did it today. I use my craftsman 1.5 ton aluminum jack with one 2x4 on top. I jack the front end first then place a 2x4 on the jack and jack it up from the driver side. On the driver side i just left a jack stand under the car.If you use a movers dolly like i did you need a 2x4 on the jack for it to clear. If you drop it on the ground you wont need it but its a pain in the *** to move the motor out.

you cannot drop it with the rear bracket, passager, or drivers side bracket on.. I don't have abs so I don't know but i guess you can drop it without removeing the abs....
