Has anybody replaced the climate control cable?

 

I've unplugged it at both ends, but I haven't actually pulled it through the firewall... Why??

 

The slider keeps pulling to the middle like the cable is broke it won't stay to either side!

 

I have a similar problem, the slider does not stay on the right - it moves closer to the center. If anyone has solved this, I'd be interested.

I glance at it last night and found out its 2 cables one is called the air mix which is from the contol unit to the heater and the other is called the water valve which goes from the heater throght the fire wall to the heater contol valve on the back of the engine.
