will setting boost controller to zero psi do any harm?

Default will setting boost controller to zero psi do any harm?

using a dsm turbo set up and a manual boost controller... will setting boost to zero psi do any harm to the turbo or anything else?

You can open the boost controller up, but the wastegate is set at 8psi on a DSM Turbo. So you will never see anything below the set spring on the wastegate.

the reason i ask is because i set it to 0psi... boost gauge shows i dont go past... and now i have oil in my charge piping and i blow white smoke once in a while... so i think i blew the seals...
wondering if not allowing the waste gate to open causes seals to blow

When and if the turbo is spooling ad you are at 0psi that would ultimatley mean theat the gate is closed not open. Opening causes pressure to drop not gain. and no the seals are prob. just crapped out. Check and see if you have shaft play.
