Default overheating?

I was on my way to the mall and the hose that goes underneath the dizzy to the proportion valve type thing? but that got a rip in it. I then took it off and cut it back, it broke right by the clap. Filled up with coolant and tried going to the mall again (had to go to get the wife new boots) and when I'm just cruising it will overheat, but when I get on it the temp will come down to the normal. The fan is on a switch and working properly (one question about that, Is the fan supposed to be blowing on the motor? i would geuss it should be, but still not sure) it is dark out and couldn't see if I was blowing white smoke, and its to lait to rev up in the garage.

sounds like you have air bubbles, take the cap off the rad and let it run for a while

If your thermostat is bad then it will tell you your car is hot when it really isnt. You could also have air bubbles. Bleed your radiator and refill it to the top. If it continues to run hot check your thermostat. Good Luck

Air Bubbles? in the rad would it do this, when i was filling up the rad it was taking forever to fill, like i had to do alittle bit and then let the rad suck it up usually i just pour right in and it takes it pretty quickly.

so i should drain the rad and refill?
