I have some friends about 3 hours from me with a dyno shop and there really big into Megasquart. They have done it on a few hondas with no problems. So I was just wondering if anyone on here is running it?
my buddy was looking at it for his pinto powered mustang race car. he ended up buying a haltec and we still havent got it running right. but with the haltec, alcohol injection, turbo and co2 intercooler sprayer he should make 650 to 750 hp @ the wheels

Cool guyz thanks alot. I'm really thinking about it. They tuned a sohc non vtec with the apexi kit and on 7 psi and just 1 hour of tuning they got 170whp and 146wtq. I'm running a mini me d16a6 bloack with a y8 head and a t3/57 trim and I'm looking for 200whp on less then 10 psi. BTW my compression is 10.55.1

I have a friend that is using on his turbocharge Neon. Work great for him. He has ran consistently low 11's with it. It is somewhat pain in the *** to install and tune though. On the plus side, it's really cheap too. If you're on a budget, I would recommend Chrome or Hondata. They both use stock Honda ECU, which is a really good thing for daily driving and start up idle,....
I've installed it on a few VWs before, and it's a good cheap standalone. It's DIY intensive, so if you don't know the ins and outs of EFI and how it works, go with something less powerful. We don't have the Hondata/Uberdata options for our cars so for anything tunable standalone is the way to go, and this is the one with the lowest pricetag. Just like any standalone it won't have a basemap for you, so you have to have an idea of where to start.
It's a very powerful system, but you trade the lower cost for time in install and setup (especially on the first one you do!).

yeah the same guy was also running a 75 shot also and controlling it with the megasquirt. i do remember him talking about how big of a pita that it was to figure out though.
as for running it on a honda...there are other cheaper/ easier/ better alternatives like hondata. not saying not to try it, but just consider all the alternatives first.

I had Megasquirt on my turbo 95 Probe GT. It worked well, but like said above - the install is a bit more tedious than a plug and play type. I made 301 whp on 9psi with a conservative tune.. Good stuff for the DIY type.
I think for a honda megasquirt really isn't necassary. It is more for the vehicles that are being converted to carb to EFI or have no other way of engine management.
For hondas you have all the rom editors which will work wonders and keep all the labor and costs down.
But I will say it is a great system. I have it all set up for my rx7, just takes time to work things out for a custom application. But a honda shouldn't be bad at all, just because the wiring is there for you already.

We'll I'm running crome now. But no one dyno tunes it around here and they want 200-300 for a street tune. I'm the kind aperson that wants to know what my car is making as its being tuned. As for the Megasquirt, its not that cheap. Its 500 set up and tuned. I just have to pay for dyno time which is no probleme b/c me and like 8 or 9 friends are renting the dyno up there for the day.
