DA guys with b16 swaps....some questions
Hey im looking at doing a b16 in my DA and i wanted to kno is anyone unhappy with their swap? DO you wish you had stayed with the LS or Held out and saved up more for a GSR swap? Im not looking to be the fastest id like to see 180 -190 to the wheels is this reasonable to get out of a b16?
any help would be great
Oh and what places have ppl had good experience getting their swaps from?

180-190 is an approximation, i hear that its dangerous to go past 8k. so you would expect to get a reasonable 160 with a LS/VTEC swap.
I read your question again, maybe i misunderstood it, but were you refering to a b18/b16 (LS/Vtec) or just a straight b16 swap, because i dont think the stock b16 puts out 180-190

180-190 is resonable...just make sure you get the b16 tranny with the swap.
to me a b16 is too under torqued for the weight of the integra, but the hp makes up for it, id say if anything to a mild built ls/vtec with you ls block.

I have a 1990 LS Integra and a 92 XSi OBD1 B16A swap.
1. No, I don't wish I had stayed with the LS at all. The B18A1 in my car had 130hp, and only 6 lb/ft of torque more than my B16A. My car is fun to drive and I wouldn't have done it any other way....(well, i would have paid extra and got an LSD) The b16A was a 40hp increase over stock. The torque difference is not what peple hype it to be...it's just that the torque doesn't come until 6,000RPM, where as the B18A has torque at 3,500RPM.
2. As much as I would want a 1.8L VTEC, it would have been a hassle to get one. All 1.8L VTEC engines have hydraulic clutches, so I would have had to sell the transmission off of the engine and try to find a cable YS1 tranny, which are near impossible to find in good condiditon with no grinds. I'm not down for cable to hydro conversion kits, so i went with the engine made for my car.
If you are referring to a USDM GS-R swap (B18C1) that's not even worth it to me. B18C1's have low 10:1 compression and 170hp. My B16A has 170hp. The JDM B18C (non R) has 180hp, and that't the one worth getting if you really want to go 1.8L...but like I said, if you want to use the tranny you have to buy a Hasport kit or source a cable tranny.
3. 180-190 wheel horsepower isn't cheap, no matter what engine you start with. That will require some camshafts, valvetrain work, and a bump in compression, in addition to the normal bolt ons. It is very possible to make that kind of power out of a B16A, it just takes $$$$$ like any other N/A setup.
4. JHPUSA.com, Hmotorsonline.com, and PasswordJDM.com are good places to source an engine.
Good luck

Yes, you can do it on pump gas but it requires good tuning. You're gonna need about 12:1 cpmpression ratio. I had a friend in Orange County that built the USDM B16A2 in his Civic Si. It had all bolt ons possible, JUN type III cams, JUN valvesrings and retainers, and CTR pistons with a balanced block. I think it made 191 WHP on pump gas. Let me tell you it was an exciting engine. No torque in the bottom of the powerband, but VTEC hit around 6,200 and that ****** pulled hard even on 17" Advan RG's (Too big and heavy for B16A, and I didn't get a ride with 15" TE37s on it) I looked at the his V-AFC to see where he revved it too and it said 9,550 RPM
I'd love to have 1.6 liters of fury like that.

If i was u i would drop a b16 in there. And i would build the ls block while i had it out. p30 pistons, arp rod bolts, itr oil pump, ect ect. Then after u have built the bottom end pull the b16 out, slap the b16 head on the ls block. Then u will have both a ls and a b16
