Gas Milege Gone Up a lot with new Oil
Before with Amsoil 10w30, i used to struggle to get low 300s mi for one tank. I am easily hitting 400miles on one tank now with Amsoil Series2000 0w30. btw, their 0w30 results in less wear than mobil supersyn 5w30.

i wouldn't imagine such a big difference between 2 grades of supposedly equivalent oils (though i hear the amsoil 10-30 is pretty thick, esp after a few thou miles)--that's a pretty neat find.
i've got an oil change coming up...mobil 1 is too easy to get at kragen, can't get away from the stuff
how much are you paying per qt for the amsoil2000?

I get almost 500 miles on tank on my 92Si if I drive conservatively.
1) over inflate my tires 2psi
2) removed spare tire and golf clubs and excess weight (have plugs and small air compressor no need for a spare)
3) short ram with K&N cone filter
4) shift at 2800 RPM's
5) approaching a red light just drop it in neutral and coast
6) as I am going down a hill I accelerate and get lots of momentum so the engine isn't working so hard going up the hill
Didn't care before but with the recent gas prices I try to take it easy on the pedal. I'd probably get better mileage but I go like 80-90mph on the freeway.

I couldn't believe the difference either. I'm definetly not driving conservatively. A lot of the time I shift around 3500rpm. The driving is about 60% highway. I know i gun it to 4500 rpm at least 4-5 times a day with some 5th to 3rd dowshifts on the highway, maybe twice. I should also mention that I've burnt about .25 quart in 1000miles. This was at the beginning and isn't doing it anymore. I can also give it credit for noticeably less valve clatter at start-up.
The oil will stay in the engine for 1yr/15k miles (it's rated at 1yr/35k miles), with a filter change (Amsoil filter) once in between.
I bought it at $6 a quart.

As far as the 10w30 thickening goes, various people have found significant thickening of that particular oil. Not observed in any of their other oils. It should be noted that, the problem is evident only in larger pushrod V8s. Don't ask why. I4's exhibit no problem with that oil at all.

well the tank is 15.9 gallons. Let say it gets to the last bar and the fuel light goes on and my trip meter is 430 miles. I fill up 14 gallons it means I get almost 31 MPG and just extrapolate that I would get 60 more miles. Technically I've never got 500 miles on 1 trip meter. Tough I make it to from LA to Vegas on 1 tank easily. Also how do you do the quote thing I don't see it

Where did you buy that oil from? Also is it safe to change from 10-w30 to 0-w30?

AMS oil is nice but Motul makes the best Oil in the world.
Did u know that all "synthetic oils" are just re-refined petro based Oil.
not quite synthetic in my book.
I just switched to Motul 8100 5w30 with this last oil change from mobil 1 big difference. I used to use ams oil which is definately better than mobil 1, but the motul makes the mobil 1 feel like I was driving with regular oil and my mobil 1 only had about 2k on it.
Motul is coconut oil and vegitable oil based.
their 300V (top of the line oil) is better than any oil standards that exist today.
Motul leaves absolutely no deposits in your motor. even other synthetics leave some deposits.
motul 8100 runs for between $7.99-$9.99/qt
motul 300V (which is sold in 2L cans) runs approx $15/qt
I know that motuls 0w30 is made for economy while their 5w30 is made for performance, so that might prove the point of this post a little.

It is safe to go from 10w30 to 0w30, just don't do it often. I'll be sticking with this. Amsoil is not available off the shelf. You need to find a dealer: you can either go to http://www.amsoil.com and look there, or what I did was go to yahoo yellowpages and typed in amsoil for my area and it brought up the dealers here (usually individuals authorized by amsoil to sell the stuff); or you can have amsoil ship it to you.

First off, there are many who would say that GC is a better oil than Motul
And 2nd, No, "all synthetic oils" are Not petrol based. There are a number that are, but that certainly isnt "all" of them.

ok show some evidence, what are the bases of some other oils? Sorry saying that all is probably an overstatement, almost all.
that site talks about theory of how oils work.
Motul has authorized dealers also.
