Default Motor washdown question

I want to clean out my engine compartment. Is it safe to use the high pressure washer at the car wash? and if so do i have to cover anything up??

i'd cover anything electrical you can see and even the fluid reservoirs. Everything should be water proof, but with high pressured water, it's better to be safe than sorry

Don't blast it with cold water while its hot. In addition to the above post, don't blast any harness connections or fan motors. High pressure spray can get in where rain and road spray can't.

I wouldn't spray it all. I seriously messed up my 95 by doing that. Water got into the cylinders.

I don't know how/why, it just did. I thought my rings were gone because the cleaner looked like coolant.

Anyways, just have a professional do it for 75 bucks. The spray crap didn't really clean it anyways.

^Or you could do that. Stay away from sprayers.

Thanks everyone for the advice. after readin it all i think im jsut going to take a rag and do a detailing..jsut to prevent any electrical problems that would arise from spraying it down.

Yea I would definatly just put in some time and elbow grease and do the job right. You never know what you could mess up if you use a pressure washer on your engine compartment, like pentaq and rude lude said, fuses etc.

+1 for the Simple Green, Just spray that stuff on let it sit for about five minutes and spray it off with the garden hose.
