idle drops when lights are on
this isnt really out of the ordinary. Its the same idea as if you turn your real when you are stopped. Your RPM's will drop because of the power steering pump. Just dont worry about it.
Not to hijack the thread, but I have a similar problem. Whenever I have my headlights on, and I step on the brakes, my RPMs dip low, and when I let off the brake, they go up to about 1k. Any idea why? I think it may be an amp I have installed.

sounds like you guys need to work on your grounds in the car...consider doing a DIY ground kit for your cars...ESPECIALLY the motor and battery grounds. I'll be doing the same thing this weekend

he's right...but I still think it could be helped with some bigger, better grounds...I'm a bit of a purist, what can I say? lol

It depends, an amp is a power wire, remote turn on wire, and ground. The only thing you could have messed up is the power wire either being cut and grounding out or an amp that has an internal short that's causing ALOT of voltage pull...take the amp out one day and see if it does the sam thing

Anytime there is extra load on the car, the ECU has to make adjustments to your engine. This includes, but isn't limited to electrical load (radio, lights, etc), power loads, etc.
It should be enough so that the engine idles still within OEM limits. As one of the above posters said, check your engine grounds, as they help a little bit too.
