DIY writeup for an intake?

1. Remove stock intake.
2. Mount K&N filter directly to intake manifold.

-or-

2. Replace with $20 ebay pipe + filter.

-or-

2. Replace with $40 ebay CAI pipe + filter.

-or-

2. Get inventive and use PVC, flex-pipe, or a sweeper hose + filter.

if you wanna go really cheap...just pop the top half of your airbox off, make sure the filter is secure in the top half (a little tape around the edges works). Then move the filter/airbox top assembly about 1" to the side. Close your hood, and you're off.

Straight out the ghetto...

haha na im not broke dude, not even close. nice inventive idea tho... i just like making things, especially for my car. i made a custom air ram for my old 1.8t which performed quite well, and without all the riff raff noise. i was looking at cold airs but their so fukin loud, i dont think i need any more tickets then i got, so i figured mayb a custom intake would do the trick

make a CAI w/ an expansion chamber 1/2 way up the pipe. it'll act like a resonator to keep things quiet, but will still flow just as much air.

Maybe I'm blind, but where does that site show you how to make your own cold air intake?

yeah, all that is is a writeup on installing one....

you can take the resonator off of the bottom of the intake, and just have it pull through the same airbox that is up inside the fender....or you could just pull the whole lower airbox out and cut enough of it so you can latch the filter in but the rest is open...

that one will be pretty loud though...i did that a few times...
