Default AEM Vs. ICEMAN

Sup honda-tech peeps! I just came back from a local tuner shop to have my car dynoed just to get a baseline record before doing some headwork. Anyway for the first 3 runs we were using the AEMCAI and the power band seemed okay from 4000 to 8200rpm, it has the regular dip on vtec switch over and topped of at 154whp and 176 crank horse power. On the next 2 runs that came we used the ICE MAN short ram intake and we were surprised to see a change in the graph, from 4000rpm to red line the iceman kicked aems *** by 6 to 8hp . The peak horse power was the same(154whp and 176 crank hp) but the low to mid range is where the big gap was seen and the line was smoother and little to know dip on vtec switch over. Anyway just letting everyone know how my day went today by next week I will post a pic of my dyno graph since my dsl on the other pc won't come till the 11th hehe I'm using a very low tec apple from the early 90's LOL....

Oh my car is 99si=AEMCAI/header/exhaust/flywheel/sparkplugs/tunning.
peace,
Sione

Would'nt the Iceman intake be considered more efficient (sp?) than the AEM intakes considering it is not made out of a heat conducting material?

i would think that on a dyno a short ram would be more efficient..but then close the hood and let the engine bay warm up a bit and see what happens

On a dyno, a tin can with a sock over it would post higher numbers or no intake at all.........
OT: How's it going with your car. Find anything out?

I've owned both on my 98 EX, no noticeable gain with one over the other, they were the same. Iceman was louder though

also don't forget that the iceman tube actually tapers in diameter as it gets closer to the t/b. the AEM stays the same.

I like ICEMAN's design becuase it looks like it gets the velocity going. I dont know **** about physics but common sense tells me ICEMAN is the way to go.

I have tried both on my old car and they were the same but i chose the aem over the iceman because at the time i purchased the aem came with carb exmpt numbers meaning legal to use in cali and the iceman did not, i don't know if they are legal now but this was about a year ago.

i guess no word is good word at this point..there s probably not enough left of the poor thing to fit in a suitcase..anyway im entertaining idea s from an eclipse, teg, SI, tiburon, sentra SE R..just a ton of stuff out this year to compete with the civics..i just wish that honda would come up with some performance toy s rather leaving it all to the aftermarket
