CAI Effect?
I have the header and exhaust part down right now but I am waiting on my CAI. When I put it on will the gain be almost multiplied becuase the h/e are aiding it making it seem as if the CAI is giving the most power?

Re: CAI Effect? (bad93ex)
it will give it more torch in the high revs and give you some horse power and if it is a ex then you will be able to hesar vtec switch over when it hits 5500 but when I put mine on I didnt really notice a diff

Re: CAI Effect? (W.ZeroB18C1T)
A good CAI, like the AEM, or comptech will provide a night and day difference. The effect won't be multiplied because you have H/E, but you will get a better response than if you didn't have the other bolt ons.
A CAI will complement the i/h/e combo as all give you extra horses up top (and elsewhere)

Re: CAI Effect? (X2BOARD)
Well, from dyno experience, expect a 2-3hp peak hp increase on a stock car. With the header and exhaust already on, the increase may or may not be the same, but very close.
You should try dyno testing it just to see the effect...I'm very interested in what a CAI will do on a car that already has header and exhaust.

Re: CAI Effect? (deepnite)
If I'm not mistaken, unless there is a swap done, you won't notice V-Tec, because it didnt come in the 93 model.....i think. And also, on the d16 it kicks in around 4,200. You won't notice a huge difference, but it will sound much better and it will allow for better gains on further upgrades (ie head work).

Re: CAI Effect? (Siturbohybrid)
Every USDM Civic EX since 1992 has had VTEC.
Here, educate yourself before you do this again:

no you didn't. no one can feel a 2-3hp increase.

A CAI can provide more than 3whp easily, on the street.... it's just that when you dyno, your hood is open and typically have a big *** fan blowing on the intake, which is why CAI typically don't gain that much on a dyno, but in real world conditions, I would figure the gains vs. another intake or stock would be around 5-7 whp.

hELLoooo ???? 2-3 Hp at wheels ? If you can't feel that, your *** is broken.
you're on crack. 2-3 hp is nothing. that is such a minimal increase.

Re: CAI Effect? (Neddy1081)
BTW, I used an AEM CAI and the difference was night and day. It was a definite 'Great Buy'. More improvement than an Iceman for sure too... so brand makes a difference. What would be best is an AEM, dipped in the Iceman's thermoplastic.
BTW, the AEM CAI for the RSX yeilds over 8whp from stock and the AEM for the Focus ZX3 yields as much as 12whp at 6200 rpm ! Dyno proven.

Re: CAI Effect? (X2BOARD)
unless it's proven on the dyno, the CAI will just have an effect on your ears, and your perception. Most people use the butt-dyno to say "I noticed a big difference."
CAI will add only a bit more power. 2-3 at most overall. Although SSC mag has shown a 6hp peak at one point. For the price, it's not really worth it IMO. A Short ram can do the same job for less. Or remove the resanator, and install a $40 K&N square filter, and get the same butt-dyno effect.
The AEM CAI has a smother internal surface for better airflow.

Re: CAI Effect? (YodaIsGod)
I noticed after I installed it, i was hitting the rev limiter cuz it revved so fast. It took a little while to get used to it. my car was definitely quicker it wasnt just the sound, although i didn't dyno to prove it i know my car

Re: CAI Effect? (X2BOARD)
How can you say that a short ram (in engine) intake is going to produce the same power increase of a CAI ? That's just not logical. A full CAI, which would place the filter closer to the ground and outside of the engine bay would undoubtedly produce more power than any unshielded in-engine intake... (basing that statement on pure physics).

Re: CAI Effect? (YodaIsGod)
The gains you will gain from the cai are minimal. I think most people attribute the gains from the aem style cai to the sound it emits. It gets louder thus it 'feels' like it faster. The only way you will know for sure is to dyno before and after the mod.
