Re: AEM Pullys (underrated99si)
Not worth it! PERIOD! The people that think they "feel" something is exactly like what someone on a previous post said.."you'll feel your wallet getting lighter!"
Its a plecebo effect, thats all.. How can anyone feel 1-2HP gain in there car? Damn....if a dyno can barely measure a 1-2 HP gain...how the hell can anyone measure the same by the seat of their pants??? SAVE YOU MONEY!! IF you get a pulley...you might as well get a Torando.....they say 50HP gains buddy!

Ive heard underdrive pulleys consistently make around 2-3 horsepower at the very least. This is stated in SCC, noting their experience with pulleys on many different cars. As far as cost goes, I don't see them being an item I would consider too expensive. Especially in light of exhaust systems costing upwards of 400-500 dollars, for what, a few horsepower gained in your upper rpm range? (I guess it sounds cooler too.) Granted the exhaust probably nets you about three times the power, maybe more, but it is 4-5 times the price. Just my two cents.

I was going off of the dyno charts in the magazine...of course I guess that could be misleading? And as far as people's experience, the magazine is telling of their experience with their own project cars. Also, Ive seen dyno's of exhaust results, and many times the power is made in the upper rpm range, so it is not as though they make power throughout either. Im not arguing that he should get these or not, I dont know. I have not used them, and Im not pretending to have experience with them. I am judging based on dyno results I have seen on various things, and my conclusion is that none of them are all that worthwhile...except for a turbo or some form of forced induction. Thats what Im saving for!

ALWAYS GO WITH WHAT WORKS... PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCES... NOT BY WHAT A MAGAZINE SAYS.

Re: AEM Pullys (WannaBFast)
well...he can go ahead and buy one. Do what you want...not what everyone here(including myself) is telling you too. Learning about cars, mods, parts, and what works and doesnt is a trial and error experience. Its good to be lead in the right direction... but you have to be the one setting one foot in front of the other.

They help to round out a fully lightened drivetrain, but I hate mine. The alternator one killed my battery once, and now I'm taking out the power steering, so really it was a gigantic waste of money.
Don't buy them unless having one shiney pulley visible at car shows is that important to you.

Very true, and I always try to make it a point to go by actual experience of others for myself.
Looks like the consensus is to save for better.
Now that Ive stated the obvious, Ill be moving along.
