Compression on a b18b dont make sense

Default Compression on a b18b dont make sense

okay i did a com check on my delsol that has a b18b in it 120,000 miles on it and the # were 120-120-130-130 isnt that low but my car doesnt smoke burn oil or run bad it pulls a 9.56 in the 1/8 stock motor dont know what could be wrong the motor came out of a 97 integra

I think compression numbers can vary drastically from tester to tester. Some people have got 120's to 130'2 before, then they'll use a different tester a week later and get 200's. Consistency is the key.

so you think my compression is okay i would think it would smoke or burn oil bad if it was that low

I wouldn't be really concerned about it. If you want try and use a different tester just to see if it gives you different numbers. Besides, if it runs good it runs good. You could always do a leakdown test too just for peace of mind.

the thing is i am fixing to turbo so i should be good to go wanting to boost 10psi

wouldnt it smoke if the rings were going bad no smoke ran it at the track 5-6 times one after another no smoke or oil burn so dont think its the rings

thats what i am thinking but my friend just checked his GSR and it was normal 190 190 195 195

You didn't do this test cold with the throttle closed did you? I know it's a stupid question but some people don't know. Hell I screwed up my first two.

To perform a compression test properly, the car has to be warm, you take out the plugs and wires (naturally of course) and hold the throttle wide open and spin the motor approximately 5 times. If the car is cold and throttle blade closed, it will be lower than actual numbers.

Oh, and for a B18B with those miles, I would expect mid 170's or so with a standard tester, maybe plus or minus 10 psi as the ones you can buy at autozone and wherever else aren't actually calibrated.

maybe thats were i f up thanks for the info feel alot better now so it should be alright since there is no smoke or oil burning
