Honestly if you don't have some fairly deep pockets or good mechnical skills I would just go a basic GSR swap. Turbo can be alot of tuning dollars and repair bills if not done correctly the first time

Mileage is definitely not a good indicator of a motor's condition/reliability. You need to check if it can hold good compression, and the leakdown numbers are good.
A motor could go bad at 10K miles or 300K miles.
In any case, like stated above, figure out the goals of your car first, then determine your budget. Then go from there.

a stock ls with a cheap $1000 junk yeard turbo will be way faster than a type r and ls long blocks are only a few hundred if it blows

Do a rebuild with custom turbo. ITR is not worth the money to spend in a Teg. U wont get nearly the power unless u go turbo.
put in a USDM d15 non vtec. Put on a ebay intake, obx header, 3" piping with 3 foot exhaust tip and youll be crazy fast. Just make sure you have a bigger intake to back up all the exhaust leaving the engine.
gsr all the way! for boost or N/A
type r ......eeeeeeh pointless for the absurd ammount of money.

just turbo an R motor...

its totally pointless , gsr its got better potential IMO for boost
ls/vtak =id stay away for the money and trouble .
if you want boost stay w the ls ,buy pistons and rods , and p/p the head; or get a gsr engine.
if you wanna stay n/a then you can opt to get an r .

if you are going to build the motor, don't waste your money on a itr motor; buy the gsr motor.
If you are going to leave it stock, get the itr motor
If you are going to leave it stock, get the itr motor
Do not rebuild your ls, it will cost a million dollars. If you want to go ls-t, buy a new longblock. However, a stock gsr motor will probably be 5 times more reliable and just as fast as your 7psi ls-t motor. Of course, you could get a new ls longblock, and then get a zex kit for it, and spray a 50 shot when you need it. Reliability, speed, cheap, almost too good to be true. My 2 cents.
not to steal the thread... but if i had a b16a sir ii and wanted to go NA would it be smarter to buy an ls block and go ls/vtec or a b20 block and go b20vtec or just opt for the r... tho i really want the k24/k20...
-.-
looking for reliability with power.
