Default Car Stereo newbie, need help with this setup....

Hey:

I am thinking of putting 4 speakers, an amp, and a CD deck into my CX Hybrid. the stock 2 speaker system is in there now. I don't want to have the weight of a sub, so those are out.

I would like to put in a Sony CDX-CA850X (basically because it looks cool), some 6.5 Polk speakers, and an Eclipse 36401 4x60 amplifier.

This setup is going to run me about $800.00 installed. I installed the motor myself, but I have never done a stereo installation

Is this going to sound okay? (I listen mostly to stuff like Rob Zombie remixes and that sort of garbage) Is there tons better hardware out there for the price?

Where should I have them put the amp? I want to make sure I have room for the nitrous later on. Anybody mount theirs under the passenger seat?

Thanks for any help

Steve

Have it mounted behind the rear seats. You can put the amp under ur seat...but I think it'd be best to avoid that if possible. Amps heat up and you want as much air circulation as possible. With it behind behind the seats...that should give you plenty of room for the nitrous bottle. Good luck!

what kind of deck do you know how many watts it will put out? im guessing around 45....? if so then the amp sounds good but i would go with infinity kappa or reference they have a real nice sound to them and they have really good base. Or if you wanted somthing even better but might cost a little bit more for them to install would be a component system they are awsome a little bit expensive but a higher quality treble and a nice deep bass. great if you dont want subs but want the beat.

I would look at something other then a sony head unit. Sony has had a lot of quality issues the last few years and I've personally seen more sony decks go in for warranty, then I care to count. Look at brands like clarion, pioneer, or alpine. All of which have a good reputation and great warranty in the car audio world.

Speaker wise, just go with what you think sounds best. You are the one listening to them, so let your ears be the judge.

Mount your amp on the back of the rear seats to keep it out of the way and allows it maximum ventalation.

Hey:

Pioneer stuff is good? I always liked the look of their decks, but still carried some reservations (admitedly from the 80s) about their quality. I will give them a look.

Is there any way to make do without an amp? I am not thrilled about giving up the cargo space, and I am trying to avoid putting any weight in the rear of the car. However, I will be listening to the stereo more than I will be drag racing.

Also, does anyone know if the CX has the wiring run for the rear speakers even though it doesn't have any?

Thanks

Steve

i think your weakest link would be the Sony deck..the Eclipse and Polk components should be aight.. but im not too crazy (actually i dont like them at all) about Sony car audio.... i'd look into Alpine (this is what i have), Eclipse, Clarion, Pioneer, Nakamichi,... Infinity and MB Quart also makes good speakers.. id mount the amps behind the rear seats to gime them more air flow..

yea you can go with out an amp. the amp wont do much for just regular speakers. there nice to have but it will save a lot of money and some space your deck will put out enough watts. yea i alpine is good i have 5 alpine type S subs and i love them. I also have pioneer 6X9 and deck i really like those too havent had any trouble with anything.

or you can buy the low end focal speakers. they hold their reputation. i would put the lower end focals with any infinity kappas.

Sony car audio sorta sucks...just like everyone else has said. I like the new JVC stuff and I have always liked Pioneer. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

yes, there is a wire harness behind your backseat/hatch panels - si's have speakers in the sides of the backseat panels, you can buy the speaker kit from honda (grills and mounting bullshit, so it looks OEM) and you can hook up two more speakers.....
