Default my ignitor or coil fried up again! WHY?

well one day i was driving and my distributor took a **** on me so i had to push it home, it was only few blocks away. so i got a hold of a d15 distributor, i have a z6 so it wouldn't fit. i took out the ignitor and coil and put it in my distributor. before it put it in, i had a solid CEL. after i put it in it went away but.... right when i tried to fire her up, i heard a loud back fire and the solid CEL came back on again? any ideas? im pretty sure either ignitor or coil is fried? i have a new distributor coming in the mail soon but i don't want that dizzy to fry to?

solid cel usually means shot ECU or a bad program burnt on a chip. is your ecu chipped?

if you get a bad burn, it happens sometimes, or sometimes the chip just looses the program for one reason or another, burn yourself your latest tune, and go from there.
