Default distributor problem

i have a b18 ls motor and i am throwing a check engine light for a bad distributor, so just to make sure it was the distibutor itself i tried replacing it with a friends and the cel went off, so i went to autozone to to purchase a IGNITER UNIT ASSY.# 8, and a COIL ASSY., IGNITION # 12, http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

after replacing those parts i am still getting a cel even after resetting the ecu, does anyone know what the problem could be if its not either of those parts?

you wouldn't throw a code for either of those parts having gone bad. when those go bad, your car will not start up. (in fact, if they go bad while your driving, the car will cut off in the middle of the road)

anyway, the CEL is probably for one of the two or three sensors inside the distributor. which code was it, 9?

You need to replace the distributor housing, which contains the three distributor sensors.

Yes, #4 contains the part that is throwing your code.
