Is it TOO BIG?
Hey guys I just bought some 5Zigen Fireball 17x7, now I want to go with the Dunlop Sp Sport 5000 but they only have 215 40R17 for that size. Will I experience any problems with the tires being too wide? Also will the tires being too wide affect performance?
Depends on your drop. I have 17x7.5 on 205/40/17 on Progress Springs, 2" drop. They rub when I turn my wheel to the extreme left or right.
215 is pretty wide though for 7".

it's not really the width that's a problem, it's the overall height. Check this out:
205/40-17 =23.46" o.d.
215/40-17 =23.77" --pretty tall
215/40-16 =22.77"
205/50-15 =23.07"
all depends on how low you car may be. Camber plays into this as well.

the offset on those wheels is about 42-43...with a 215/40/17 tire....if you're dropped below 1.5-1.75", you'll rub on hard turns and fully-clock u-turns. and if you're suspension's soft, you may rub on big bumps too. stick with a 205/40/17 tire.
