When you buy an aftermarket cd player, that will no longer function. It was Honda's idea of a "subwoofer," but it's really just a 6x9.

It will only work if you keep the factory deck. Screw that though just get a cd player, and get a sub and amp. That factory 6x9 will just be there for decoration.

is there a way to install an afteramrket 6x9 in its place. I am not going for the subs i figure i will go with a panasonic head unit with infinity ref 6.5 comp for up front and infinity ref 6.5 for the rear deck. run of course with a amp for good sound but i need my trunk space.

I have no idea. But just get a small sub if you want good sound. You dont need to turn your trunk into a sub box lol. I didn't.

10" sub in a small box, maybe one foot by one foot.

I have 6.5" in the front and rear and I want to add 6x9"s to my system. I don't want subs either. I don't like them that much and having them in my trunk. And I don't want the rattling that some give. I want to add 3 6x9"s & an amp in my car. I'm hoping I'll be able too, I've just got my Rear center assembly and hopefully once I get my JDM H22A Swap finished I'll start on the new speakers.. If I can do and have it work and space, I think it'll be great. I can't wait..

Just get a small sub. Sounds better, looks better, and it'll be cheaper. That will produce what you're looking for. A small sub won't turn your car into a rap mogul's dream car...it'll just help out with the bass of the music you listen to.

I'll put it to you this way: I don't listen to any rap music, and I've found, after having a small sub, that I can't stand listening to a stereo without one.

6ohm 6x9

I think there is a way to make that sub work w/ an aftermarket deck, but I have never tried. So unless you want to mess w/ the inputs then your most likely outta luck. I can tell you the wire colors if you want to try it out.

yeah let me know. I am gonna try something but i have another option. I was looking at crutchfield and they have a 6 channel amp and i was thinking of buying a 4 way 6x9 for the rear seat area and hook that up with the remaining 2 chanels but price may be an issue. But so far this is what i am thinking for a system

Head Unit: Panasonic MXE CQ-C7401U CD/MP3/WMA Receiver
Front Speakers: Infinity Reference 6010cs 6-1/2" 2-way Component System
Rear deck: Infinity Reference 6012si 6-1/2" Shallow 2-way Speakers
Amp: Sony XM-4060GTX 60W x 4 Car Amp

I may ad a single 10 inch sub but thats up in the air right now. Plus i was thinking of adding the component system for the rear deck also to get the true concert sound I like. The reason i picked what i did is cost and i have used these brands in my 88 civic hatch and it was amazing sound quality.

Let me know what you think.

You don't want components in the back. I took all three of the back speakers out to help the my subs breath. If you put a sub in the back it will prolly make the rear speakers distort. This isn't anything to worry about. A well tuned system will sound better w/ only front speakers. Some like rear fill as a way to help spread the sound, but most people that compete either have rear fill for the mid range or none at all. No one uses components in the back. Besides no-one that matters will ever sit in the "baby seats".

On the stock amp like I said you'll have to mess w/ it, but the way I understand it to work is the amp has a Line Level input that combines the signal from both of the rear speakers. The wiring diagram shows the same wires that lead to the rear speakers also lead to the amp.

The colors are (main-color/line-color)
L - (Gry/Wht)
L + (Blu/Yel)
R - (Brn/Wht)
R + (Red/Yel)

Amp turn on (yel/wht)
Amp Power (Yel/Red)
Ground (blk)

I don't see why the rear sub wouldn't work w/ an aftermarket HU, but I don't have one. So if someone has experience and can verify that the amp dosen't work w/ an HU then there you have it.
As a side not there is no comparison between the stock 6x9 and a real sub amp combo. If you have any respect for car audio then do what you know is right.

I would just get some decent coaxial speakers for the rear, and get really high quality ones for the front.

And get a small sub and amp, and you will love it. Just unplug the stock 6 x9 in the rear seat.
