charging system and ignition problems. help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
starter clicking after swapping in a new b16a2 into my 99 civic si, so, i replaced it with my old starter. hooked up my battery back up and the oem car alarm thats been dead for 3 years starts going off
wtf? i hit and hold on to a little button by the driverside kick panel and turn the key, the car fires up and starts running.
i let it run and idle for 15 minutes. take it for a test drive around the block and up the street. engine out of the blues decides to shut off on me in fourth gear. i try to start it, but, it would only crank, but wouldnt start. i had to tow it home. i test for spark and fuel. there is fuel but, no spark. i swap out the icm, coil, cap, rotor, plug wires, and spark plugs and distributor from my old b16. its no good. i used my old ecu and its no good. i tried these parts in my cousins si and it runs.
the next day, it just wouldnt crank anymore. the starter is just clicking now and wont even crank. i do a starter jump and its no good. i test the battery and is recieving 11.9v. power is going to the starter. i even tested my old and new starter and the both work. i try jumping the starter relay and it still does not crank. cleaned and sanded all ground connections.
could the starting system have caused the car to die in the middle of the road? could it have caused the no spark issue? maybe the supposedly dead alarm may have caused the problem? why would the alarm out of the blues decide to start working again?
anyways, im going to test the starter relay and ignition with a digital multimeter tommorow. any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
