Wont start after new starter installed, checked spark and fuel, both good... *searched*
K, I know theres tons of *wont start* posts, and I did search... But nothing was relevant to my specific case..
Long story short, my g/fs Civic has always been hard to start, it would take atleast 2 times to get it started... Well the other day It wouldnt start at all... The starter would just click (like the battery was dead, but it wasnt)... It started a few hrs later just fine... So we troubleshooted it down to a bad starter solenoid...
Today I installed a new starter, but before I pulled the old one, I tried to start it to move it into the shade, and it wouldnt start... Not the clicking from, before, something different.. It would crank, but wouldnt turn over... I figured its just the old starter... So I replaced it with the new starter, tried to start, same thing... It would crank but would turn over...
Now I did pull the spark plug wires to get at some of the bolts... And I put them back on correctly (looked it up on here, and compared it to my D15B VTEC in my CRX), they are fine...
We used some starting fluid in the intake to start it, nothing... We tested the spark by grounding out one of the spark plugs on the valve cover (his idea not mine) and it sparked...
So its not a fuel problem (or it would turn over when we used the starting fluid) and its got spark... What else should I check?
Thanks in advance!

ordinarily i would say that's your coil or your igniter, but apparently you have spark so...beats me. check all the stupid stuff anyway, sounds like cap/rotor, igniter or coil, or something stupid along those lines. you obviously have compression because it runs when it starts. maybe someone with a little more experience can chime in. will it bump start?

I would check all your connections (grounds especially), if you have spark and fuel then its a matter of your starter not getting power.

K, thanks for the replies guys...
I changed out the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires, and it took a bit of cranking, but it did start up... Now it starts almost immediately... So it musta been something with the old ingition... Weve never changed them since she got the car 3 yrs ago, so thats what I figured... Just didnt think that and the starter would go out at the same time... Luckily I was gonna change all that anyways so we already had it...
