Default Wash out your rings? so how rich is too rich?

I got a guy finishing up his buildup.

LSVtec
81.25 CTRpistons
balanced bottom end
ARP big bolts

GSR head
BC Spec III
RM Gen 1 valvetrain

Now when he starts up the motor ill be coming off a p30 basemap with the S300. How rich is too rich? i know that 13.7 range is safe i just dont want to wash out his rings and im going to give him a rev limit of 4000 RPM's til he breaks it in.

Base timing is gonna come out at 16*

So what is the actual danger zone for washing out your rings?

i'm having issues with that myself. i may have to re-ring.

anyway i use CROME and i found that the jdm p30 map was rich as hell, even down at 30psi (fuel pressure). i switched to an edm p30 map (i have 310 injectors) and adjusted for 330 injectors and the afr is pretty stable from 14.7ish cruisin and 13.1 WOT, and this is with fuel pressure up at 47psi. my point is the edm p30 map is leaner to begin with, and over-adjusting for aftermarket injectors seemed to work great for me. i just have yet to find out if the first 200 miles or so on the jdm map washed me out. hope that helps.

were gonna do a 200 mile break in. Peak RPM will be 4500. then after 200 miles or if the rings are seated then WOT all the way.

you may wanna load them more than 4500 rpm, or else they wont seat right...do some searching on this, you'll see the ongoing debate..

Idling and steady no load driving are the enemys of a performance engine.Short trips up thru the gears will help a motor last a long time.
