Default noob...valve adjustment

ok...im pretty sure i need a valve adjustment. at idle i hear a ticking sound...Don't notice it at higher rpms but i definatly hear it at idle. Is this indication i need a valve adjustment?

btw my motor is d15b7 w/ 164k miles
don't know if previous owner ever did vavle adjustment or anything else. I think it might be due. If so i couldn't find the clearances for my motor anywhere.

thanks in advance

helms or chilton or search even.

and yea just make sure to read a write-up to avoid doing it more than once, the engine has to be TDC on the power stroke for the cylinder you are doing (for an H22 at least)

Intake valves 0.007-0.009
Exhaust valves 0.009-0.011
That's straight out of a manual, You should think about getting your own though.

yeah, it's a good idea to do it... it's easy as hell... make sure your engine is cold before you do any adjustments... allowing the engine to cool down overnight is the best thing to do

i just did mine with intake 0.007 and exhaust 0.009... the engine runs smooth at 160K miles!

check out the tutorial above for a howto
