Valve adjustment?
How much does a valve adjustment usually cost? Anyone in s.cal know any places that do it? I found a shop that said they'd beat any price and I want a ball park figure.. shops shops shops!
just adjust them yourself. it's so easy to do. just pop the valve cover off depending on what motor you have you need either a 12 or 10 mm wrench, a flathead screw driver, and some feeler gauges also depending on what motor you have. if you have a shop manual for that motor, you can find the specs and the procedure. although i will warn you, adjusting valves on the nsx is not a quick task.
HEhe that's cool I'm trying to get it done for a b16. If it's that simple it shouldn't be more than 50 bucks the guy said. I'd do it myself but my knowledge on this is minimal to the max..? I don't even know what valve adjusting is.. like what the process invovles..
yeah, i had to get a valvle adjust tool from honda ( you can also get one from snap-on, and they are really nice ) so i could adjust valves on the b series and the nsx. so i would suggest you have someone else do it, probably around 50 bucks. the process involves loosening the valve lash adjuster nut, screwing the adjuster down till the feeler gauge is snug between the cam and the rocker arm.
I'm doing a rebuild on a b18c1 and the valve adjust isn't to hard. THe special tool isn't entirely need but makes it a bit easier. I used a 10mm socket and put a pair of vise grips on it. If I remember right, the nut is only torqued to 14 lbs/ft to the vise grips will hold easy. intake side is adjusted to .006 to .007in and exhaust is done to .007 to .008in. Just put the socket on the nut and stick thin flat head screw driver down through the center, that way you can hold the screw in place while you tighten the nut. I then just placed a torque wrench on it to check if I was tightening properly with the vise grips. Easy job.
