no power on takeoff crx dx with a d16a6 swap
I bought a 1990 crx dx that had a d16a6 put in it,it has nothing below 2k rpm's.You have to slip the clutch to get it to pull out smooth, once it gets revving a little it runs fine.does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?I have been searching all over the internet for the last week and a half trying to find something that might help.I don't know the person who did the swap so I don't know that it was done right.I am new to honda's,but not new to modding vehicles,so any and all help is greatly appreciated.
well I set the ignition timing (jumpered the blue connector under the dash,16 degrees btdc)and it didnt help.do you all have any other suggestions?I dont know what could be causing it but its driving me crazy.for some reason the tabs on the distributor are cut off and the way its held in is with bolts and washers holding on to the cut off tabs,it looks like the way u mount the distributor on the z6 mini-me swap but the opposite(z6 dizzy in an a6 head))could this be the problem?it throws code 16 but i dont think that would cause the problem im having.once again any help is greatly appreciated

Cam timing is off and they cut the legs on the distributor to try and get the timing into spec. Recheck cam timing and check compression etc. just to be sure.
I retimed the cam and it didnt really help.I think the damn thing has an hf tranny.would it be that bad?what tranny should I go with?

The z6 uses weird leg positions compaired to other d's, and there is almost no adjustability for that head with a different dizzy, assuming its legs are cut already. My brother got a STD with a z6 in it w/mpfi conversion that didn't run much at all. From what i could see, it was retaded a lot just to fit in right. I don't know if the rotor was at a different angle than the z6 dizzy, but I know once we put the LX motor in, it fired up perfect.
Its either that or its off a tooth. Follow how helms lines up the cam/crank for timing belt install to see if it's off a tooth or not.
Cliff notes - z6's should be run obd1 for simplicity.

check your vacuum lines and make sure they're all in the correct place. same thing happened to me with my sohc zc, and its because the vacuum lines were out of whack. had the egr line gong into the intake where the map sesor line should have been going. might not be the problem, but worth looking at
well i set the cam timing again and redid the ignition timing and reset the ecu.still no power.just te remind everybody its a d16a6 that was swapped when i got the car.the guy who had it before me(he didnt do the swap either) just lived with it but i want it to run right.i am going to check the compression tomorrow maybe its off.i am about to run it over a cliff
did I mention that the damn thing runs 95 in third easily and it gets 37 miles to the gallon?I think the tranny is the biggest problem but i am probably just retarded
my 91 dx does the same thing but it dosent do it as bad anymore well until its warmed up and my 3rd gear hits rev limit at 85mph but my z6 crx did 95 in 3rd but was also reving way higher.
well its got an si motor but u gotta rev the **** out of it to get it to pull out then it runs fine.but 5th gear is a waste of time unless you are on flat roads or going down hill.I am going to take it to a garage here and see what they say.
