Default I've got two holes in the back of my block. What goes in the right one?

Some of you might know that I purchased a new OEM short block from Honda. I sold my old block so now I don't have any reference and for some reason I'm having trouble finding a good picture in my helms manual.

If you are looking at the back of the block from the intake manifold side there are two large holes on either side of the oil filter. The one on the left is for breather box correct? If that is the case then what in the world goes into the hole in the right side of the filter? It's not threaded and doesn't have a neck to slip a hose over so I'm confused.

Thanks in advance.

to the right of oil filter = oil breather chamber
thermostat housing assembly/water coolant hose inlet= far far right

The PCV canister attaches to a non-threaded hole that sits approximately 3-5" above the bottom of the block, to the right of the oil filter. The mounting bolt for the PCV canister shares the same thread as the header support bracket.

As for the hole on the left, it could be a coolant passage. Is it a threaded hole? There should be a threaded hole that has a hex nut in it, but I would assume this would come from the factory with it in place.

I'm stopping by my shop later today, I'll take a couple pics of the back of one of my blocks, you should be able to get a good reference.

Thanks for the input. I don't know what I was talking about with the hole on the left side of the oil filter. That one is plugged like it should be. Guess I was tired or something.

The breather hole is the one I'm talking about. Guess this would be a good time to look into some sort of crank breather setup.

On a C1 and C5 engine there should be two holes/plugs. One on the right side of the stock PCV 'black box' and one on the left. These two plugs should be 26mm threaded with a 14mm allen to take them off and on. It is recommended that you get an adequet crank case ventilation system in there while you have the block out.

Take off the stock 'black box' and plug that hole with the crank case plug insert sold by Z10. There is only one that you can order. You'll need two of Honda part number: 12207-634-300 which is a 26mm aluminum washer, and two of: 11107-PK2-003 which is a 26mm insert with a 5/8 female end on it to run hosing to a catch can.

I'm just talking off the top of my head since I JUST ordered these parts. Here is the thread...with pictures that will help you. The stock Honda PCV system is t3h sUcK.
