Autox at Hollywood Park went well, thought I blew up motor....
I got stuck in the first run group right off the bat. Very fast course for autox- hitting 9000 in second gear. Well about three turns into the run my car decides to do it's best impression of a 007 smoke screen. Massive amounts of white (oil) smoke. I instantly think, well there it is she finally let go. Limped the car back to the pits smoking badly every time I get on the gas.
Car is smoking when revved but is not making any funny sounds, not running rough, my first impression was broken piston or oil control ring. Then I start to think "what the hell - it sounds fine....wait a minute my oil catch can". Catch can wasn't full when I started the run though…hmm. I idled the car for a couple minuets then decide to disconnect catch can, plug manifold line. Gave the car a few good raps, drove it down the street and did some runs to blow it out. No more smoke. I think my endyn spec catch can under hard acceleration and deceleration (lots of vacuum) is acting like a vacuum reservoir. Storing large amounts of vacuum then when on the gas sucking large amounts of oil into intake from what’s in bottom of can. The PCV valve on the factory catch can is hollowed out then goes to catch can. PCV on top of catch can then out to intake manifold. I think because the PCV valve is on top of the catch can it is allowing it to build up vacuum, thus sucking in oil under acceleration only under extreme situations. Anyone have any thoughts or theories?
By the way, met Thomas, Cheap Bastard and a couple others today

Don't hook it up like Endyn says. It's dumb. All you'll end up doing is sucking out oil from your crankcase. Keep a stock PCV valve and run that to the catch can, and then intake manifold. Don't put the PCV valve on the catch can.

hey whats up Nice meeting you man. I didn't go sunday cuz my car wasn't ready still. But next time it will be. It was a fun time at the practice, even though I shared my runs, it was still plenty. Good luck with the catch can. I'm planning to get one soon so let me know how it goes.

I'll be hooking up my SRR catch can as soon as I find a place to mount it.
This is how it should look like:
Stock PCV -> Catch can -> Intake manifold
