It seems that my car is "lugging" in low rpm's (under 3k). Not under any boost at all. It's at the point where it's becoming noticeable but doesn't seem to be a big problem, yet...
At full boost, everything is fine. I'm just wondering if this crap fuel management from Jackson Racing may be the culprit. It's just a standard kit at 7psi on a stock D16Y8. Newly installed a few weeks ago.
To me it feels like what happens when you are starting from a stop in second gear. That kind of stutter or lugging, just more supressed and not that noticeable. But the feeling is that there isn't enough gas getting to the engine. Don't know why it would be a fuel problem, tho, since at WOT it feels fine.
Any ideas?

Check your vacume lines maybe? Do you have a boost guage?

Are you running rich? That might be the cause of it.?

 

I checked the vacuum lines but I'll look over them again today.

no check engine light right? Id check your spark plugs and see what they look like.

 

Mine used to do that just from the base timing retard. The JR MAP controller let me put enough timing back in for it to run right.

 

If you are running the jrsc fmu, you no that it pushes the fuel pressure to about 70psi, and if you dont have some kind of timing controller or management(hondata) you run extremly rich at low rpm because your ecu is only running your factory timing and can't compensate. However, you have enough air flow to compensate at higher rpm's because of the jrsc. Not very good tuning, and your killing all of your horsepower. My suggestion is to spend a little money and get some kind of e-management and a little bit of mild dyno tuning, whatever your budget is. But youre hurting your setup and could possibly do engine damage, which is just like throwing your money away.

makes sense to me. can any body confirm this? i have a Vortech s/c and mines doing the same thing. even while idling if i try to snap the throttle, it take along time to rev up, but when it passes 3000 rpm it goes fine.

my MIL is on(check engine light), i had it checked out and it was

fuel management malfunction
too rich on bank 1
emissions control malfunction

i had them clear it, then my light came back on now i dont know if its the same, but im sure it is.

you guys have any suggestions?

ps im running all the componets in the vortech kit ie... fmu, higher flowing fuel pump, rc 310 injectors,
91 octane shell gas

one step colder plugs
6psi
93 octane

15BTDC timing
