Default Head Unit - Alpine or Clarion

I am planning on getting either an Alpine 9855 or an Clarion DXZ855MP. Which would be better in sound quality and reliability? Assume cost is not an object.

I've read many bad things about the 9855 going bad after about a week. The power indicator just starts blinking wildly and the unit won't turn on.

The Clarion seems like a nice unit. The last 2 clarion headunits i had both stopped working but hopefully these problems were corrected. If it's got warranty, definitely the clarion.

IMO the Alpine is a better unit, I have installed more then a few of them, and none have come back with a problem yet, however I am no fan at all of the Glide Touch "bar" 94
