you should be fine, thats why there is a rev limiter, to limit the revs before it does any damage.

don't worry man, LS is 7500 and GSR is 8200 so you have the right stuff in ur car. You will be fine. I think 2nd gear can go upto 70 on 2nd gear......

DON'T WORRY, YOU'RE OK!!!

whoa. this is pretty scary. people need to read this: The rev limiter will NOT protect your engine from over revving if you accidently downshift when you arent supposed to. It will cut fuel, but it will not prevent the motor from over revving.

However, if your car still runs, and you dont hear any terrible noises, it is probably fine.

yes you can still mechanically overrev your engine past the factory fuel cut if you shift to to low of a gear at at a certain speed. my freind just destroyed his type r this way going from 5th to 2nd at like 85 or so, man you shouldve seen that motor when we pulled it apart, it mustve turned like 15000 rpms!!

Incorrect Redline is 6800...shifting past that point will only make you go slower since you are out of the peak powerband

7200 fuel cut does exactly that. It cuts fuel at 7200, so If you downshift and don't give it gas you will OVER REV. meaning going 100mph without the foot on the gas pedal and put it into second and drop the clutch the car WILL rev past 7200 because your foot is not on the gas.

At 50mph you can shift to 2nd safely on an LS...if youfelt the fuel cut you are fine since it is there to save you from overrev by means of not shifting earlier.

This clears everything. Bump this post if you agree.....if you don't......go read up and then bump this post
