honing cylinders and aftermarker pistons and rods?
are you all sure this is ok do to. this is my plan. since my motor is messed after a summer of boosting, ill hone the stock sleeves and get new rods and low compression pistons. is there any point to getting aftermarket rods with stock sleeves? or should i just get new pistons and rings and keep stock rods? how much boost can i run safely with new 9:1 pistons and eagle h beam rods with the stock sleeves and head???
thanks
thanks
Do some research. No you don't need to upgrade the head. We don't know if you can run 18 psi, it depends how much power that turbo makes at 18 psi. I would trust stock sleeves to 500whp on a good tune though so, there you go.

I thought I posted about stock sleeves and built internals on one of your threads?
But anyways I'm pretty sure you'll have to pull the motor. IMO it would be easier on the person rebuilding the motor. For you head, you could stay with the stock valvetrain if you wanted to. Not really necessary to replace anything unless it's broken, out of spec of if you wanna go with something better.
I believe people have been doing stock sleeves and upgraded internals for a long time. It's probably just in the last few years that people started pushing the stock sleeves to new HP levels. Or maybe it's just that people started noticing it more. If you decide to keep the stock sleeves you should be fine. Just get yourself a set of pistons, rods and ARP headstuds.

RODS:
Eagle
Manley
Pauter
Full-Race.com Turbo Tuff rods
BEARINGS:
OEM

That's what I did when I replaced my pistons/rods.
