going to the track next weekend for the first time
what should i do to my car(prepair setup)
eg/si with the sir-II lsd, falken azines on the factory steelies
factory ex manifold with factory cat only (been to lazy to get it piped)
kn 9in cone on the oem black rubber intake deal

how do you preload, help on launching in general, wtf is double clutching?

figure out what a good launch rpm is. you dont want wheel spin, a nice little churp, churp, like the po po gives you

 

when i launch hard with the azenis and the lsd it doesn't spin, it feels like im driving over curbs , really fast. also, what kinda times should i expect with a setup like that

Ya know as funny as it seems we actually knew the damn chirp, or just replayed it in our heads as you said that.

But yeah as he said wheel spin bad.

 

I heard double clutching is like if your in 1st and you're going into 2nd.
Instead of directly going to 2nd gear you push in the clutch from 1st gear and bring it into N and then let off the cluctch, rev it up for 2nd gear, push in the clutch, and bring it into 2nd and let out. Thats what i saw someone else write on this site before.
But that seems like a waste of time and I dont know how it helps.

 

it helped the eclipse in f&f, 10 second ride yo..

j/k yeah its where you step on the clutch real fast between gears. i wouldnt do it..

- congrats. racing on a strip legaly is a safe, fun way to enjoy your car.

- nothing really. sounds like you have a DD. race it as you drive to school. ie; don't take our seats, etc

- sounds like a mildly modded ride. don't expect any mind blistering 16/sec time slips

how to preload? not sure what you mean.
launching: go around the water pool, this is for cars with drag radials. next creep up to the lights, to get them in the "ready stage". next slowly release your clutch to that it is barely about to grab. next, (and this will take practice) hold your revs to the highest you can without doing a mad burnout. next, quickly, not instantly, let off the clutch, as much as you can without burning out to much. NEXT shift as fast as possible at your peak RPM. All cars are different, to know yours, get a dyno done. thats it.

oh and double clutchering is for old cars; ie classic stangs. if you want to see/hear a perfect example of double clutching, watch the chase scene in the movie BULLET.

 

If you have adjustable shocks, stiffen the back and soften the front. Back tires to max psi also and soften front.
Launch at different rpms to see which best suites your driving style and the car.
Do not run down the track with your headlights on.
Do not drive in the puddle of water with your street tires, its for burning out with drag radials and slicks.
Watch what other people do when approaching the lights (christmas tree), to get idea.
No need to double clutch or power shift. The latter takes practice.

Follow the rules of the strip/motor park.

Perhaps because it's for downshifting.

Anyway, when you launch, don't just drop the clutch. All you'll do is burnout. Instead feather the clutch until it fully engages. Then give it hell. And please, please do not attempt power shifting until you know what you're doing.

You're description was right on the mark. Of course it seems like a waste of time with our generation of cars.

Double-clutching was actually a technique required to drive some old MT cars, where it was necessary to get the engine RPMS up to speed prior to going into the next gear.

Today, we have the magical thing called synchros.

you're driving a car that was mean to fetch groceries and save gas.

no you won't break 16's unless you swap a motor and boost it.

 

take a leek before you go to the tree or youll redlight cause your legs will be shaking.

It's definitley definitley going to better than 16's. My Completley STOCK del Sol Type S motor (DX) ran 16's.
