Default compleat motor rebuild or swap?

I have a '97 prelude. It has 122978 miles on it. My friend's '04 civic si can keep up pretty well (He has new tires and less milage than I do thats really all). I'm also not too sure the extent on how well the cars up keep was prior to when I bought it . I feel as though my car can push MUCH more power and really leave the civic. So, the question is, do i rebuild the motor or swap it out? I don't have too much $ and want to do it asap. I know it is really dumb to make such a big deal out of nothing, but I feel as though I am being robbed of power. any suggestions?

I would rebuild it, mild the head, reground the cams, or buy stage 1 cams(most likely cheaper to reground) whichever you prefer. Port n polish, well basically so you won't do the same thing out of the motor you'll get, cause most likely you're going to want more power, if you do the swap. And you'll know what you have, if you do the rebuild. Or for now just get simple bolt ons, like I/H/E, unless you already have that. The least i'll do (which i want to do) is get camshafts, well for me one camshaft.
