For my opinion, you cant ask people how to drive a car. You have to try and practice yourself.
For track related tech questions, those are good to know. But i think its very useless to ask where to shift. How can we know whatkind you car and motor is? Engines are individuals, some ones pull hard on other range. Especially when its tuned.

What tires are you going to be using?
I remember the first time I raced at the drag strip. I learned a ton the first time!
Your tire pressure will depend on the tires you are using, but letting air out of the tires will almost always result in better times. If you are using street tires, try 25psi and see how that feels, then drop down to 20psi and see if your times improve.
The burnout! I always raced on street tires so there was no reason to do a big hairy burnout. I would just roll through the box then on the other side I would rev it up and drop the clutch to spin the tires a few times, just to get them clean, not to heat them up.
The launch. I made some mistakes with launching my first time. I would launch at about 3k and then smash the pedal to the floor. Well, that didn't work out too well because my turbo would spool up too quickly and I would spin all the way through first before I even really got moving, then when I shifted into 2nd I would just spin through it as well because by that time I was at full boost
Needless to say. I learned to launch at partial throttle, feather the clutch until I had good traction, then push the pedal to WOT. Same with second gear, if I just laid into the gas I would be spinning the tires and the other car would be gone. I had to feather the clutch into 2nd and then go to WOT after I had traction.
Also, the lights. It looks a lot easier than it is. My first time I would always leave late, eventhough it felt like I was right on. You really MUST drop the clutch and get going BEFORE the green light, or you will be way behind.
Anyways, those are just a few tips that I remember from my first time. Have fun! And don't be disappointed with bad times your first time out. It takes a lot of practice. My good friend has a 450whp supra and he ran mid 15's every run on his first time out because he spun the tires too much and didn't know how to drive properly with that much power.

Oh, you meant the drag strip, I thought you meant the real track...
Do floor it, don't turn left or right. You can't go wrong.

that and run the tires at the psi on the side wall, street tires are meant to be run at a certain psi, too low (like 20) will increase your times.
