I am going to MIR (Maryland international racetrack) tomorrow and I wanted to know if you guys had any tips for me. This will be my first time at the drags and I will be running my prelude and my GSR (both on street tires). I don't plan on doing any better then mid 14's but I'm just going for the experience.
I was wondering about tire pressure, and if I should do a burnout or not? Also what type of rules do they have? Do I need a helmet, do I need pants or can I wear shorts?
I have also heard that you get a lot better traction on the track opposed to the street and I should launch my car at a higher RPM than usual. I have an exedy clutch with pretty much all the simple bolt-ons. So what RPM's do you guys suggest that I launch at?
thanks for you help...Chris

dont be nervous its just for fun, most places done allow you to wear shorts, if you not going to hit 13s you dont need a helmet, you dont need to do a burn out with street tires if you had some drag radials it would be useful. you will hook up a little better but pay attention to your 60ft times to see how your traction is doing and if you can take off a little harder good luck
your going to need a licence too
your going to need a licence too
hes right helment is only needed for 13.99 or faster....most people just to burn out sessions to warm up there tires (slicks, radials) street tires dont. If i have street tires i go AROUND the water burn out and just light them up a little to get them warm. Just know the christmas tree...and have fun...
ONE MORE THING THAT PISSES ME OFF!!!!! When you race look straight ALWAYS...i always see people turning their heads to see where their opponet is...NOT COOL! good luck man...it's a rush especially when you hit 13's for your first time like i did last night

let me get this straight, its your 1st time going to the track and your bringing 2 cars!? why? itll be hard to run both cars in the same class, bring your running shoes.

regular street tires,not drag radials=26-28psi

I say no to the burnout with reg street tires justdrive around the burnout box to the the stage beams, rev it to about 3500-4000rpm and just concentrate on cutting a good light and not missing a shift

I dont know MIRs rules but i know some tracks require a helmet no matter how slow the car is...just bring one anyway to play it safe.

Yes you do hook up better at the track but that also could lead to mad wheelhop esp with street tires.
Good Luck!!!
