That's actually the ideal spot for them. The advantage is less compressor surge.
Explanation: When the throttle plate closes a wave of compressed air is formed beginning at the throttle plate. This wave is EXACTLY like the one found in any engine when the intake valves are closed (resonance effects). As that waves moves all the way back to the turbo it's better to have the BOV as close to the turbo as possible to avoid that wave to get back to the turbo. For most all applications it really doesn't matter where you put the BOV as long as it's far enough away from the Throttle Plate (12inches or more is best).

Need more info on this. Curious.
Sometimes when I blow off hard, there is another sound of multiple pops in decreasing amplitude. It's hard to describe. Is this a sign of compressor surge or a pressure kick back to the turbo?
I have SSQV bov on my system 12 inches from throttle plate.

i believe thats the sequential part of the bov, instead of blowing off just once and the turbine partially repressurizing the charge tube it blows off again and again gradually going to 0 psi or whatever, or at least thats what i think

so would it blow off lourder, or softer monted on the hot sde? would it matter. i think im gonna do it just for something diffrent.
