Default EGT probe at wastegate port?

I'm going from external wastegate to internal because I want my car to not be too noisy due to wastegate (I put a lawnmower muffler but it got so tight I want to get rid of it). At the same time, I want to install EGT probe.

I don't want to drill into #3 runner cause there was a crack on that one (welded and fixed). So what about buying a wastegate port plug (flange), drill and tap it for EGT? There are temperature diff, but it's ok right? I have revhard manifold, so wastegate port is where #1 and #2 comes together.

Also, I'm going from external to internal on my Garrett T3, any comment on that? boost spike?

Wouldn't it be easier and more effective to just plumb the dumptube back into your exhaust system?

How much do you think I should expect to pay a shop to weld the dump tube to the downpipe? I'm just afraid it's more than 50 bucks and it's not worth it.

You realize you'll probably have to make a new downpipe when you switch to external wastegate? Plumbing the dumptube back in to your existing downpipe should be easier and cheaper. If you don't want to spend much money on it, take it to the cheapest ghetto muffler shop you can find. Just remember, you get what you pay for...

Either way you are going to spend more than $50 bucks, Re-routing the dump tube would be a much wiser way to go. An external wastegate is much more responsive and yes you will be more prone to spikes with an internal. THis would ultimitley be a large down grade of your current set up. Just because of noise?
