Default my car just started sputtering

I started driving home from class in my 91 hatch and i noticed that at lower rpms when i accelerate it sputters, but once the rpms build up it runs fine. I dont have a tach in there so i dont know what the rpms are exactly but i can tell approximatly where about. Its got nearly 184k miles and it slightly burns oil but i never had any these problems with it. the distributor has been changed less than a year ago but i dont know if it was a new or used on. What could cause this sputter? i thought maybe an exhaust leak but it doesnt really sound any different.
any ideas?

i also put in new plugs less than a year ago. I did a search and quite a few people had similar problems but i couldnt find a solution.

Possibly your ignition timing is off.

Could it possibly be fuel pump?
Spark plugs fowled?
Oil in the plugs?

Considering it has nearly 185k miles on it, it may need a major tuneup. This would include:

Ignition related parts ( plugs, cap, coil, rotor, wires)
Fuel system ( injector cleaner, fuel filter)
Intake system ( throttle body cleaned, PCV, valves dirty - not seating/sealing properly)

could also be caused by - bad Oxygen Sensor, Bad gas, ignition timing off, timing belt slipped, weak alternator/charging system

... theres a bunch of stuff
