Default JDM s2k

my friend has a jdm s2k. when we tried to squeeze the power out of it, we got disappointed with the speedlimiter!!!! how can he do away with it? the hks device is just too expensive!!! can't we just cut the vss wire going to the ecu?

Its there for a reason...mainly so people who dont have a clue dont go and blow their S2000 motor in half.

Yea, and at what speed? It cant be 155 like the Benz one, because the S can barely top that. So, 120?

I am betting that if there is a HKS part to deristrict the car and it is expensive it will be a bit more sophistacted than an on/off switch. But don't let me stop you from imobilising your car

On all stock jdm cars there is a speed limiter. I think it limits the cars top speed at 180 km/h, Thats something like 100 mph I guess.

I really doubt that you should cut the vss wire, you should talk with somebody who really understands these things.

Aren't those more expensive than the HKS fix?

sorry it took me a while to reply. we were able to remove the speed limiter through the hks for 350bucks.

it was cutting the fuel input at 165kph on the stock jdm ecu.

Somehow I remember Best Motoring clocking that car in at 135-140 mph. Where does the needle point?

Here's a couple examples: JDM EG Cluster, JDM DC2-R, JDM EF8 Cluster. They all show 180km/h.

That still doesnt answer my question. The editors were pushing the ITRs anr CTRs to 135-140, I was wondering where the needle would point. BTW thats about 210-220 kph.
