Quicker steering ratio???
I have a 93 Accord and I have been doing a lot of auto X lately. I was wondering if it is common to modify the steering ratio for quicker turns. The track I run is pretty tight so sometimes I am cranking the steering wheel around and twisting myself up. Any solutions or ideas, or should I just deal with it. Thanks
ya theres some kits out there that can elimante 1 rotation

I seen a small box on monster garage once that basically just geared the rotation in half. Nothing real fancey they just cut the colum in half and put in in the middle so every one turn of the wheel turned the out put twice. Not sure on the actual ratio but it looked like a weld to fit part you could use on anything. I guess if you made it to quick it would get real twitchy. I doubt any one would use it on a honda race car but i thought i would mention it. You could probably make it your self with out to to much work.

a friend uses a steering quicker on his car. the black box just under the wheel. it needs p/s to be managable with 20x9.5x13 slicks. the ratio vary from 30to 50%usually.
see the pics of the silver ea at the bottom of the thread

best mod i have ever done, i use a 2:1 steering quickner which double's the steering speed, you have to use power steering with a modified pump though. i wish more people would used them, just about every time i see an accident or some one loose control of their car its because they cant control thier car consistently when they get a little sideways or bumped, with a steering quickner this problem is eliminated. You think rally cars could drive the way they do without fast steering? i don't think so.

That being said, a '93 Accord isn't the best place to start out for a performance car anyway... If you're serious about getting more into autox, spend your money on seat time and tires. Save the bigger bucks for a better car down the road.
<--- Starting to regret sinking ~$10K into a Civic when I could've been putting it towards something with a V8 and a 7 in the name...

No one I know of. I BELIEVE you can swap in an EG/DC subframe and run the EG/DC steering rack, but I'm absolutely not 100% sure of that.
Thats what I like about my Accord. It is my daily driver, and different. It is far from stock, the brakes kick ***, and it handles great. Something about being able to throw done faster lap times then the "performance cars" you talk about, in a four door kinda does it for me. Any way Like everyone else, I am on a budget too and I was not trying to spend "big bucks" on this, rather I was wondering if there was any stock parts I could swap fom Honda's interchangable car line up.
By the way, I get plenty of seat time and I spend plenty on tires. Yokohamas aint getting any cheaper

Well then, you're on the right track
Unfortunately, not many of us will be of help, as none of us have been in your shoes
Edit: to be more helpful, if you wanted to expend the effort, you could go to a junkyard, pull out an Accord rack and compare it to other racks (EG/EK/DC/etc.) and see if any of those would work. The Integra rack, for example, when used with a slightly smaller steering wheel (~350mm) has a fantastic ratio in my EG. The Quaife offerings work only on the Civic racks to equal the ratio of the 'Teg units I believe, so if you could use a 'Teg one, it'd be infinitely easier.
If none of that works, try a different steering wheel (smaller diameter), that alone made a big difference on my car.

i know it wont help out much but you can always get an aftermarket steering wheel... they come in smaller sizes... in all actuality it doesnt change the steering ratio but i find it easier to work with a small steering wheel than a larger one... i drove my buddies EF that has the same setup as mine and his felt more like a go kart with the smaller steering wheel
