Default identifying an LSD.

Hey,
I am in the middle of buying a swap. The motor originally came equipped with a stock lsd trans. it was swapped out due to a grind and replaced with apparently a GSR trans equipped with an LSD.

My problem:
the tranny is not stamped "LSD" so either its aftermarket,or an oem diff was installed on an originally non lsd tranny.

So...i beleive by jacking up the car and spinning the wheels there is a way to identify if there is a LSD present by which way the wheels spin..please correct me

Thanx in advance for the help

Take off an axle and see if it has it or not.

If you spin a tire , the other one should spin the same direction. Open diffs usually spin the tires in opposite directions.

Take both axles out and look for a small bar going thru the middle. I believe if it has one it is not LSD... damnit i can't remember... someone back me up

clearly you didn't take the 30 seconds to even read this thread. i am fully aware what to look for when the axels are NOT present. this car is in-tact,working and driving on a daily basis.

thanx Marauder, this was what i had in mind but wanted to clarify.

there is no way to tell without looking through the diff. i have a usdm itr tranny in my car and the wheels spin in opposite directions. and i KNOW for a fact it has an lsd becuase i have seen it with my own eyes.

if you pull the axles out you should be able to see right through one side of the diff to the other, if it is NON LSD there will be a rod going through the diff. If the motor is already installed. simple jack up both front tires, turn the wheel either clockwise or alternate, and BOTH wheels should be spinning in the same direction. easy fix

so from the way i understand is that your buying the swap and not the car. correct?
so if you have the money and your really interested in it tell him. so then he pulls the motor you look through the tranny if you see straight trough it then its LSD but if theres a bar going through it then its not LSD. then your not abligated to buy it because he lied.
but if your buying the car then all you have to do is do a nice burnout if it leaves 2 tire lines then its LSD but if it only 1 tire line its not LSD. or take a corner fast you should be able to feel the LSD kicking in.
