how do i tell if its there with the motor and tranny together but sitting ona pallet??? i plan on getting a swap very very soon(next week i think) and i want lsd but dont want to get scammed so i need to know a trick or a way to tell if its there b4 i purchase. any help is appreciated. thanks

 

Get a flashlight and shine through where the axle and intermediate shaft fit in to the transmission. If there is a bar crossing in the middle of the hole then you do not have an LSD. If you can see straight through then that transmission is equipped with an LSD.

 

There is also somthing about spinning the front tires with the car off the ground. It has to do if the wheels spin in the same direction or opposite. Someone else may be able to verify this. I don't how easily you can try this in your situation.

 

a clutch type LSD will spin both wheels in the same direction off the ground.
A helical LSD will act just like an open diff and spin the wheels in opposite
directions. Quaife and factory LSDs are helical.

 

My quaife spins the same way when the wheels are off the ground. Hmm.. If the tranny is on a pallet, just see if there is that bar that goes through the differential or not. If not, its LSD I believe. Sometimes the transmission will be marked with a LSD stamp as well

 

if u spin posi, then should u have LSD??? cuz i gots an LS that spins both tires almost all the time i do a burnout...
