Try adjusting it, if it cannot be adjusted you may have worn clutch disks or glazed clutch plates.
Have you changed the oil recently? Some oils namely extended life oils have friction modifiers that can cause clutch slippage issues.
If neither of those cure the problem and you are unfamiliar with wrenching on your own bike you may want to take it to the dealer to have them replace the clutch.
What kind of bike is it and what kind of riding do you do?
Just as a heads up I replaced my clutch in my f3 engine. I used the barnett kevlar kit and HRC clutch springs. I also installed a factory pro shift kit in while I had it apart. I hated em, wish I would have gone with stock and the friggin clutch was tight as **** cause of the stiffer springs. My arm would get tired working the clutch. I have heard that many people only replace two of the four opposing springs with the HD ones to avoid this problem.
Either way best of luck.

Try to get ahold of the honda service manual for your bike. Search the archives as I believe there are pdf versions available online.
Also check the oil level and see if you can find out what kind of oil was used. If you are riding the clutch when shifting you could have glazed the clutch plates.
I know another newbie on here would ride with his clutch half engaged for a while after shifting in his own words 'to prevent himself from gassing it and flipping.'
He wore his clutch in about a week doing this. I have found that slipping the clutch for wheelies or hard launches will wear out a clutch really quick as well.
When my oil gets really hot on my 929 it will slip a little as well but I will admit I beat on it. My buddy's clutch only lasted 4k on his zx12r but that is because he beat it on the track when he was drag racing.
Good luck.

I have heard of some people changing the oil and the clutch would be ok.
I guy told me that he took the plates out, scraped both sides on the concrete, put em back in and it was like a brand new clutch.
If it was only slipping a little maybe oil and filter change would do. If it's slipping alot and in every gear I would just put a new clutch in.
The clutch in mine was so easy it's like giving money away to have someone else do it

Yes it is true you can try to score the surface of the glazed clutch plates if that is the problem. However if you alter the height of the clutch disk/plate stack too much it may cause more problems.
True it is easy to replace the clutch if you have the proper tools. There is special tool needed to remove the clutch hub nut. You can improvise but if you break the presure plate you will have to order one from the dealer. I have a picture of the homemade clutch hub tool I used to do on my f3 on my home pc.

I had to replace the clutch on my R1. With such a long first gear ~100mph, you have to ride the clutch out a bit to get started, especially on a hill. When I picked up the bike it was slipping, changed the oil, temporarily solved the problem, decided to get a new clutch, and problem fixed. Clutch jobs on motorcycles are not expensive like cars too, I got my R1 done for $330 including parts.

That makes NO sence at all...where the clutch engages and disengages has nothing to do with your top end in first gear. Any bike can be started on a hill in first gear. It may require a bit of riding the clutch if you don't know where your friction point starts and ends, but telling someone its cause your first gear goes to 100 mph is ridiculous.

Your riding an 01 and when you bought it the clutch was slipping? wow, either its got 40,000 miles on it or it was used as a stunt bike =p....

Try starting your car in 5th gear. Now tell me again how the length of the gear has nothing to do with how much clutch you use.

99-03 R1's are known for their short clutch life along with 2nd gear problems. This problem was addressed in the redesign in '04. And it had 20k miles when the clutch really started slipping.

The HUGE first gear on an R1 is EXACTLY why it can be hard to get moving on inclines and such. Granted it's a small problem, but that's what causes it. It's called drive ratio. The shorter your gearing the easier it is on the motor to get moving - the taller, the harder. Lets say it takes 75 foot pounds of torque to get your hugely geared bike moving - but the motor doesn't make that kind of power until 5500 rpms - that's going to take a dump or a bit of slip to get going. Vice versa, some bikes are geared so short you can just dump the clutch at idle and it roll across the parking lot.
And to clarify the current R1 goes to 108 in first.
I also hate to break it to you, but three or four really good hard launches can fry a clutch. AMA Superbike @ VIR two weeks ago - on the (third?) restart Eblows had his clutch replaced just so it wouldn't start slipping during the latter stages of the event as had happened at a previous event.
Seriously, don't be an ******* just for the sake of it. It's not very lady like.
PS - fixed the spelling in there for you.

alright alright i figured becuase the bike has so much power / torque to weight ratio that it would not have ANY problem whatsoever starting in first gear. sure starting in 5th would stall it but i didn't think that first gear it would have any problems. ive never owned anything bigger than a 750 and ive never had any problems whatsoever slippin the clutch off the line with them, even on steep hills so i was just thinking thatt it sounded a bit out in the field. I didn't mean to sound like an *** just didn't make alot of sense with over 2 hp per lb....i didn't consider gearing into it....

I think you deserve a standing ovation.
That was probably the most mature response to a direct rant I've ever seen.... almost makes me feel bad for sounding like an *******, myself.
